Common Questions
Which Service Do You Need?
Do I need a windshield replacement or just a chip repair?
It depends on the size of the damage, how deep it goes, and where it sits on the glass. Damage directly in the driver's line of sight usually requires replacement even when it is small. Repair is faster and cheaper than replacement and is frequently covered by insurance with no deductible. Text a photo of the damage to (619) 627-4221 and we will tell you which one you need before you commit to anything.
Does my vehicle need ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement?
If your vehicle has lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, or a forward-facing camera mounted to the windshield, then yes. That camera is aimed through the glass, and replacing the glass moves it. Without recalibration those systems can misread the road. Zico Auto Glass performs ADAS calibration in house alongside the glass work, so there is no dealership trip and no second appointment.
Is mobile auto glass service really free?
Yes. There is no trip charge, no travel fee, and no distance surcharge anywhere in San Diego County. The price we quote is the same whether we do the work at our Sorrento Valley shop or in your driveway, office lot, or on the roadside.
How long does auto glass work take?
A windshield replacement takes roughly 60 to 90 minutes on site, plus adhesive cure time before the vehicle is safe to drive. Chip repairs take about 30 minutes. Side and door glass is usually under an hour including cleanup. We will tell you the exact cure time for your vehicle before we leave.
What kind of glass do you install?
We install OEM and OEM-equivalent glass on all makes and models — domestic, import, luxury and electric vehicles. OEM is the same glass the manufacturer installed at the factory. OEM-equivalent is made to the same specifications and fits identically, usually at a lower price. We will tell you what is available for your vehicle and what each option costs.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
Every installation carries a lifetime labor warranty on our workmanship — leaks, wind noise, and installation defects. If something is wrong with how the glass was installed, we come back and fix it at no cost for as long as you own the vehicle. The warranty does not cover new damage from road debris, rocks, vandalism, or collisions, since that is fresh damage rather than a fault in the install.
